2016 Calendar Activity

This month for Activity Days I thought it would be a lot of fun to make a calendar.      
I had so much fun planning this activity and it all came together so well.
I printed the calendars and the cover on white cardstock and then comb bond them altogether.

Here are a few of the projects we did for each month:



 


I had the copies and supplies for each month laid out so I could grab it quickly.
 




The table was all ready to go.  I had M&M's in the bowl for the girls to snack on.

 
I wanted to take more pictures, but it was hard with all we had to do.
My little Emma sure loves when the Activity Girls come over!


For every new month I would have my Kindergarteners make a calendar.  They would trace the numbers with crayons.  Instead of having the calendars in a book they would glue the project and the calendar to a big piece of construction paper.  The students loved making a new calendar each month.

Preschool-Week of January 12th

This was our first week back from Winter Break.  Emma was so excited for preschool to start again.
 
 From the beginning of the year I have taught the girls about the Rule Train.  The rule train helps the girls remember how we act when we are at Morning Meeting.  I used the same rules with my Kindergarteners.  They work so well!  This week was a great week to reinforce the rules, so they each started making their own train. 

We did the engine and the eye car.
 
 We worked on our coloring.  I found this great coloring anchor chart here so I had to make one. 
 
Then we practiced what we learned by coloring a snowman for our January portfolio page.
 
We started using little pitchers during snack time.  The girls thought it was so neat that they were able to pour their own juice.  Thank you Play to Learn Preschool for the great idea!

For singing, the girls took turns taking a snowflake off of the poster.  On the back I wrote different songs we have been working on or winter songs we need to learn.  Then we would sing the song. 

I try to keep Adam busy too.  He put large buttons from Oriental Trading in a bucket.
 
He was very frustrated at first because he couldn't get them in the hole.
 
Then he got it and was so proud of himself!:)
 
We had another busy day today in preschool. 
We built our name with fish.
 
We made our Ii ABC shape book page.
 
 

 
 Adam was hard at work pulling all of the diapers out of the container.
 He was very happy with what he did.
 
We then helped the snowmen find snowflakes in the "snow."  Each of the girls had a card and they found that many snowflakes.

 


Then they had so much fun "playing in the snow" with scoops and spoons.
 
They made snow soup with snowflakes.

 
 Brynlee and her mom gave Emma this darling shirt.  I am so glad Emma and Brynlee were wearing them the same day.  They looked adorable!

 
 Today was Toy Day.  The girls were able to bring some toys they got from Santa.
Emma showed the class her cat Figaro that Santa gave her.  She also showed her purse Grandma Warner gave her.  She doesn't go anywhere without this purse.  She said her Grandma gave her the purse because, "Grandma loves me so much!"
 
Brynlee showed her Star Wars light saber and flashlight.  Everyone thought it was so cool how the light saber had candy in it.  She loves Star Wars and knows so much about it!

We made the next two cars on our Rule Train.  Ears are listening and lips that are silent.  We have two more cars to go and then they can take it home to practice our preschool rules with their families.

New Year's Eve 2015

I love when New Year's Eve rolls around each year.  We always go to my parents house and it is always so much fun!
 
My mom did this cute New Years tree this year, well last year;). 
 
 My kids loved it!

 
I did bags for Emma to countdown to the new year.  Each bag had a game in it.  You can check out the games here.


She was able to open one bag each hour.  She couldn't wait to find out what was inside.

She opened the first bag at 6 o'clock.  It was a New Years match game.



Then they had some fun with balloons with Aunt RuthAnne.

 
At 7 o'clock she did a New Years Search and Find.  Emma did a great job finding all of the pictures.

My mom thought it would be fun to do chocolate fondue.
Emma loves cinnamon bears.  She was in heaven when she found out grandma had them for us to dip in chocolate.

My mom had pretzels, marshmallows, cinnamon bears, grapes, bananas, strawberries and Oreo's for us to dip.  It was so good!!
 
 
Even Adam loved it. 
 


 We play the "Candy Bar Game" every New Years Eve.  To play you need different candy bars and dice.  The candy bars will be placed in the middle of the playing area.  Each player will take a turn rolling the dice.  If you roll 7, 11, or doubles you can choose a candy bar.  If someone has the candy bar you want you can ask for it.  We play where the candy bar can not be passed around more than 3 times.  The person who has it on the last time is able to keep it for good.  We play until there are no more candy bars left.  For me it wouldn't be New Years Eve without this game.:) 

 
The next game we played was, Countdown to the New Year.  Emma found numbers 1-10 in a container of silver grass.  When she found one we would identify the number and cover it on the mat.

When she found all of the numbers we said, "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Happy New Year!" 
 
Adam had to get in on the fun too!
